Challenge
The organisation serves historically disadvantaged communities in South Africa. It had to make operational adaptations at the start of the pandemic in order to remain functional. During this time, the Board also decided that it would be important to create a strategy to better serve its purpose in a post-pandemic world.
Solution
We helped out by facilitating a Strategy Sprint with the Board of Trustees. A Strategy Sprint rapidly define an organisation’s direction, chart the path to success, and establish clear metrics for progress.
Process
- Internal Assessment: We deep-dived into the organisation’s strengths and weaknesses across all operations. This gave us a comprehensive understanding of its internal capabilities.
- External Analysis: We thoroughly examined the post-pandemic landscape. We identified opportunities to leverage and threats to navigate, to ensure that the strategy would align with external realities.
- Strategic Options & Prioritisation: Leveraging the insights, we helped the board generate diverse strategic options. We then facilitated discussions and prioritisation based on impact on the organisation’s purpose and implementation feasibility.
- Clear Direction: Ultimately, we arrived at three core strategic choices forming the foundation for the organisation’s future direction.
